Legislation establishing security standards for federal IoT devices passes Senate, heads to White House

The Senate has unanimously approved a bill to set up a security regime for government use of Internet of Things devices.

“While more and more products and even household appliances today have software functionality and internet connectivity, too few incorporate even basic safeguards and protections, posing a real risk to individual and national security,” Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) said Tuesday after the bill passed the Senate.
