U.S. Chamber underscores concerns about cyber incident-reporting requirement in defense bill

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is urging House-Senate negotiators to exclude a cyber incident-reporting mandate from the final version of the annual defense policy bill, saying it would potentially interfere with investigations, expose companies to liability and carry unreasonable compliance costs.

“Incident reporting should not be an end in itself. It must address the legitimate interests of both industry and government organizations and lead to tangible consequences for malicious hackers, many of whom are sponsored by foreign powers,” U.S. Chamber...
