Ex-FCC security leader Simpson sees progress in telecom executive order, cites Pentagon’s CMMC as model for further improvement

President Trump’s executive order on reviewing security aspects of Federal Communications Commission licenses and applications takes meaningful -- if long delayed -- steps toward better cyber risk management in the telecom sector, according to retired Adm. David Simpson, who ran the FCC’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau during the Obama administration.
