Lawmakers move to codify Trump supply-chain order, maintain restrictions on Huawei

A bipartisan group of lawmakers on Tuesday introduced legislation that would prevent the Trump administration from relaxing export restrictions on Chinese telecom giant Huawei -- seen as a bargaining chip in trade talks with Beijing -- without approval from Congress.

The bill would also “codify” an executive order President Trump signed in May that lays the groundwork for a ban on imports of Chinese information and communications technology.
