Wireless group urges FCC to consider burden on industry when crafting data breach notification rules

The Federal Communications Commission’s proposal to update its data breach notification rules needs to balance security investment with potential burdens of reporting, according to a leading wireless sector group.

The notice of proposed rulemaking released on Friday focuses on breaches of customer proprietary network information. The FCC said the proceeding was opened in light of “recent developments in federal and state data breach laws covering other sectors.”
