White House stands down SolarWinds mitigation ‘surge,’ cites progress in patching, lessons learned

National Security Advisor for Cyber Anne Neuberger today announced the federal government has achieved “vastly increased patching and reduction in victims” in the SolarWinds and Microsoft Exchange hacks, and is “standing down” an emergency “surge” activated when the compromises were discovered late last year.

“The Biden Administration convened two Unified Coordination Groups (UCGs) to drive a whole of government response to the SolarWinds and Microsoft Exchange incidents,” according to a statement released by the White House and attributed to Neuberger....
