White House says meeting advances open source software security work with industry partners

A White House-convened meeting with major technology companies on open source software vulnerabilities will help advance work under a Biden executive order and collaborative efforts in three areas, according to a readout released late Thursday.

“The discussion focused on three topics: Preventing security defects and vulnerabilities in code and open source packages, improving the process for finding defects and fixing them, and shortening the response time for distributing and implementing fixes,” the White House said.
