Warner looks to ‘hotline’ IoT security bill through Senate by unanimous consent

Legislation requiring security standards for Internet of Things devices purchased by the federal government has cleared the House and could be approved soon in the Senate by unanimous consent, according to Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA).

He said sponsors have been working with the Trump administration and National Institute of Standards and Technology “on a number of iterations of the bill” and that “I think we’ve gotten to the point where [the administration and NIST] are comfortable.”
