U.S. Chamber: SEC subpoena for law firm’s client data would damage government-industry cyber efforts
A Securities and Exchange Commission subpoena for law firm Covington and Burling’s client information in a hacking investigation not only violates attorney-client privilege, according to a U.S. Chamber of Commerce court filing, it threatens to undermine hard-earned trust and industry-government collaboration on cybersecurity.
“The stakes of this Subpoena are high for all businesses,” the Chamber says in a Feb. 21 amicus curiae brief filed with the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
