U.S. Chamber backs global, industry-led standards for IoT risks

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has adopted a policy policy statement on the emerging Internet of Things that calls for global standards to be developed by industry to mitigate cybersecurity risks.

The policy was adopted at the Chamber's board of directors' meeting on June 1, and elements of the statement will be included in comments by the business group later this month on a Commerce Department initiative to reduce botnet and automated attacks under President Trump's cybersecurity executive order.
