Trump expected to nominate Kirstjen Nielsen for DHS secretary

President Trump on Thursday is expected to nominate Kirstjen Nielsen for secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, according to published reports.

Nielsen is currently a deputy to White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, a position she has held since the beginning of September. Nielsen previously worked under Kelly as DHS chief of staff until Kelly left his position as DHS secretary to serve at the White House. Nielsen was subsequently detailed to the White House.
