Trump budget gives NIST cyber activities slight increase amid widespread cuts

The National Institute of Standards and Technology's cybersecurity and privacy activities would get a bump in the current funding level despite an overall near 29 percent cut to the agency, a move that shows continued support for data protection efforts amid the Trump administration's federal downsizing push.

The administration's fiscal 2021 funding request for NIST is $737 million, “a reduction of $296.5 million or 28.6 percent and 479 positions from the FY2020 enacted level,” according to the Commerce Department's ...
