Treasury sanctions Russian service provider supporting LockBit ransomware group

The Treasury Department has announced sanctions against Russian-based service provider Zservers for supporting widespread ransomware attacks from the LockBit threat group, as part of a broader global effort to disincentivize cyber crimes.

“Ransomware actors and other cybercriminals rely on third-party network service providers like Zservers to enable their attacks on U.S. and international critical infrastructure,” Treasury’s Bradley Smith said in a Tuesday release.
