Telecom groups urge FCC to delay incident reporting proposal for emergency alert systems during CISA rulemaking process

Two telecom associations are pointing to CISA’s upcoming cyber incident reporting regime for critical infrastructure as a reason to delay the Federal Communications Commission’s proposal on the topic for emergency alert systems.

The FCC’s notice of proposed rulemaking would establish a cyber incident reporting requirement for EAS participants within 72 hours of occurrence and mandate the creation of cybersecurity risk management plans.
