Telecom advisors to push for ways to incentivize industry use of ‘risk-informed' cyber capabilities in products

The president’s telecom advisory committee next week will propose establishing federal procurement requirements to incentivize industry to build “risk-informed” cyber capabilities into their products as part of an effort to make security a priority during product development.

The proposal is a recommendation from a draft report that will be considered on Aug. 23 at the National Security Telecom Advisory Committee quarterly meeting. The draft report contains several proposals on how to address the Information Technology and Operational Technology “convergence,”...
