Stakeholders: ‘CHIPS-plus’ signing heralds launch of new era in U.S. technology policy

President Biden today signed into law the CHIPS and Science Act with lawmakers and industry supporters saying the measure will help secure the semiconductor supply chain from disruptions and cyber threats, while research and other provisions will bolster U.S. efforts on advanced technologies.

A central piece of the legislation, the Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors (CHIPS) for America Act, was introduced over two years ago by Senate Intelligence Chairman Mark Warner (D-VA) and Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX).
