Sponsors of Senate self-driving car bill add House language, maneuver for final passage before end of year

The Senate sponsors of the AV START Act on self-driving car security and safety standards have released a new “staff draft” that combines its language with the similar House-passed SELF-DRIVE Act, aiming to include the proposal in a year-end spending package and pass it this month.

However, Democratic senators told Inside Cybersecurity that they continue to exercise holds on the revised self-driving car legislation, which has prevented floor action on the measure as a standalone bill and probably would doom...
