Sources: House panel's data-breach draft tracks with industry compromise

Propelled into action by the Equifax consumer data breach, industry sources said House Financial Services Committee Republicans are drafting a breach notification bill based on a compromise recently developed by the Financial Services Roundtable and the Retail Industry Leaders Association.

Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-MO), chairman of the financial institutions and consumer credit subcommittee, is leading the effort with the support of full committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX), according to sources.
