Senators offer bipartisan bill to create national strategy for ‘6G’ networks using Solarium Commission model

Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) has introduced legislation to create the Next Generation Telecommunications Council, composed of senior agency officials, lawmakers and industry leaders who will develop a strategy and deliver recommendations to Congress on how to strengthen U.S. leadership in the race to sixth-generation networks.

The bill says members designated by Congress from the private sector will “be individuals who are nationally recognized for expertise, knowledge, or experience in--(I) telecommunications, spectrum policy, and standards organizations; (II) cybersecurity and innovation;...
