Senate vote paves way for Wolf appointment as acting DHS secretary

Amid intense Democratic opposition, the Senate on Tuesday cleared a procedural hurdle and moved toward a vote today on the nomination of Chad Wolf for a senior position at the Department of Homeland Security, paving the way for President Trump to appoint Wolf as acting secretary.

The Senate voted to invoke cloture and limit debate on Wolf's nomination to serve as DHS under secretary for strategy, policy and plans, and is expected to vote today on approving the nomination.
