Senate Intelligence members urge Biden administration to include Open RAN funding in budget request

Chairman Mark Warner (D-VA) and a bipartisan group of Senate Intelligence Committee members are asking the White House to allocate funding for Open Radio Access Network equipment as part of the Biden administration’s budget request for fiscal 2022.

The 116th Congress approved the creation of an Open RAN research and development fund through the Commerce Department in the fiscal 2021 National Defense Authorization Act, but it did not appropriate a funding resource to make the program operational.
