Senate intel chair Burr cites cloud services, private-sector solutions as preferred approach to cyber

Senate Intelligence Chairman Richard Burr (R-NC) said non-legislative solutions might be more effective in reducing cybersecurity risks from foreign adversaries and other malicious cyber actors, during a wide-ranging discussion on the policy fallout from Russian hacking of the 2016 election.

Burr said today during a Council on Foreign Relations event on election hacking that “I wish I could say I’ve come up with a legislative remedy” to secure the federal government and personal data from cyber attacks in the aftermath...
