Senate Homeland hearing raises questions over jurisdictional issues in response to Colonial attack

Senate Homeland Security Committee members expressed concerns over Colonial Pipeline’s decision not to reach out directly to CISA after being hit by a ransomware attack, and emphasized the cyber agency’s central role in protecting critical infrastructure during a hearing today with Colonial CEO Joseph Blount.

“This attack demonstrates the gaps in information sharing between organizations and the federal government,” Senate Homeland Security ranking member Rob Portman (R-OH) said at the hearing.
