Senate defense policy bill would create ‘scholarship for service’ cybersecurity program

The Senate Armed Services Committee version of the annual defense policy bill, passed last week, includes a provision to create a cyber service academy, granting scholarships to students who agree to meet a Department of Defense service requirement after graduation.

The Senate panel on Thursday approved the fiscal 2023 National Defense Authorization Act in a closed session. The package includes the academy language and other cyber provisions, according to a summary released last week.
