Senate bill includes $436 million for Pentagon 5G technology program

Defense appropriations legislation advancing through the Senate would allocate nearly a half-billion dollars for the Pentagon's new program to research and develop fifth-generation wireless technologies.

The Senate Appropriations Committee’s fiscal 2020 defense spending bill includes $436 million for DOD's "Next Generation Information Communications Technology" program. The committee's accompanying report on the bill also refers to it as the "5G-XG" program.
