Senate AI group offers fiscal 2025 NDAA amendment to develop framework for addressing AI cyber risks to national security

Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) and Sens. Mike Rounds (R-SD) and Martin Heinrich (D-NM) have offered an amendment for the fiscal 2025 National Defense Authorization Act to direct the federal government to create a risk-based framework for cyber and physical impacts of “highly capable” artificial intelligence systems that are seen as crucial to U.S. security.
