Sen. Warner reviews recommendations on cybersecurity for health sector; two groups call for HIPAA update

Senate Intelligence ranking member Mark Warner (D-VA) and his staff are reviewing comments from healthcare organizations and federal agencies on ways to improve health sector cybersecurity, with two of the industry groups suggesting the need for updating both the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and its “security rule” to reflect modern technological challenges.
