Schumer stresses role of open-source AI development to avoid ‘doomsday’ scenarios

Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) stressed the role for competitive open-source development of artificial intelligence to avoid the misuse or unintended existential threats from the technology, following the eighth closed-door meeting hosted by Schumer and his bipartisan working group on drafting AI legislation.
