Rural telecoms urge additional funding for FCC rip-and-replace program, prioritization for small providers

The Rural Wireless Association is asking the Federal Communications Commission to seek more funding from Congress for the agency’s rip-and-replace program focused on Huawei equipment and services, and to make policy changes that would benefit telecoms with limited resources.

The FCC approved a third notice of proposed rulemaking in February to adjust the rip-and-replace program to align with changes made in the fiscal 2021 appropriations law that fully funded the program and also expanded eligibility for reimbursement for telecoms...
