Reps. Langevin and Gallagher call for dedicated House cybersecurity committee as Rules panel mulls possible changes

Rep. Jim Langevin (D-RI) offered a detailed pitch for creating a new House cybersecurity committee, while Homeland Security Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-MS) explained that consolidating DHS jurisdiction at his panel could pave the way to reauthorization and reform of the department.

The House Rules Committee opened its doors Thursday to member proposals for possible organizational changes in the next Congress.

Langevin also addressed Thompson’s remarks, stressing there is no conflict between the positions of the two senior Democrats.
