Report from eSentire: ‘Golden Chickens’ hacker group wages spearphishing campaign targeting LinkedIn users

A highly sophisticated spearfishing campaign targeting LinkedIn users with “weaponized” fake job offers has been uncovered by cybersecurity firm eSentire, whose team identified and disrupted an incident aimed at a healthcare technology professional.

The eSentire team “discovered that hackers are spearphishing victims with a malicious zip file using the job position listed on the target’s LinkedIn profile,” according to the report issued today.
