Rep. Luetkemeyer says revised draft of breach notification bill coming in ‘a few days’

After “hundreds of meetings with 40 or 50 groups,” Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-MO) says he will circulate a revised draft of his data security and breach-notification bill “in a few days,” with formal introduction and a markup as soon as two or three weeks away.

Luetkemeyer, who chairs the House Financial Services financial institutions and consumer credit subcommittee, told Inside Cybersecurity that the bill will pre-empt existing state laws, an issue he said he “broach[es] with everyone I talk to."...
