Public safety remand in circuit court’s internet ruling may rekindle debate over FCC cybersecurity role
A former cybersecurity chief at the Federal Communications Commission says an appeals court ruling upholding deregulation of internet access also makes clear the FCC has failed to adequately address public safety issues and should revive discussion of its cyber role, while the commission’s leadership says the court’s “limited” remand provides an opportunity to explain how its approach actually improves public safety.
