Policy analysts: ‘WannaCry’ ransomware attack points to need for cyber basics

The recent “WannaCry” ransomware attack that hit healthcare and assorted critical infrastructure entities across the globe should sharpen the focus on relatively simple issues such as ensuring security update protocols are in place, along with continuing to address the complex issue of vulnerability disclosure, according to sources.
