Pentagon says 'security is an allowable cost' in shift to cyber certification

Defense Department officials now say contractors can bill the government for the cost of implementing required cybersecurity measures, as DOD prepares to roll out a new cyber certification for defense suppliers.

Katie Arrington, special assistant for cybersecurity in the Pentagon's acquisition and sustainment office, spoke Thursday on the department's plans to shore up defense industrial base cybersecurity during a conference hosted by the Professional Services Council in Arlington, VA.
