Pentagon to require self-assessments from contractors for CMMC program

The Pentagon has received “emergency” preapproval to collect assessment information from contractors who want do work with DOD when the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification program goes into effect as part of an upcoming rulemaking.

“The emergency clearance was issued in relation to our upcoming DFARS rule under DFARS Case 2019-D041, Assessing Contractor Implementation of Cybersecurity Requirements, for the DoD Assessment portion of the rule,” a Defense Department spokeswoman told Inside Cybersecurity. “Under that portion of the rule, contractors complete a...
