Pentagon, NASA seek industry advice on banning Huawei, ZTE products before August deadline

The Defense Department and NASA have announced a public meeting next month to get industry advice and concerns about implementing a ban on federal purchases of telecommunications equipment from China-based companies Huawei and ZTE, prior to an August deadline under the defense authorization law enacted last year.

The Pentagon and other agencies are asking government and defense contractors if the ban would prevent the availability of crucial services, what additional guidance beyond the statutory requirements would be needed, and estimates...
