Online payment industry calls for cyber 'gap-analysis' to steer possible federal guidelines

The nation's online payment companies are urging financial regulators to conduct an analysis of existing cybersecurity requirements to identify potential “gaps” and guide the development of new federal guidelines.

“As part of that assessment, we believe the Agencies should examine not only whether there are gaps in existing standards, but also whether any existing standards are ineffective, duplicative, conflicting or simply inefficient in terms of the cost of compliance as compared to the effectiveness in minimizing cybersecurity risks,” writes NACHA...
