NTIA meeting on software vulnerabilities prompts pilot project for securing medical devices

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration hosted a meeting Thursday on software vulnerabilities during which industry and government participants agreed to launch a pilot project for securing medical devices, among other working groups expected to be formed as part of the effort.

The medical device group, which will be led by Jennings Aske of the New York-Presbyterian Hospital, will examine how software developers can publish vulnerabilities and fixes to product users, such as healthcare providers and device manufacturers.
