NSA issues advisory on future requirements for quantum-resistant algorithms in national security systems

The National Security Agency has issued an advisory with information for operators of national security systems on future requirements for “quantum-resistant algorithms,” as quantum computing with the capacity to break current encryption becomes a reality in the coming years.

The advisory, “Commercial National Security Algorithm Suite 2.0,” includes sections on algorithms for software- and firmware-signing; symmetric key algorithms; general use quantum-resistant public key algorithms; and information on timing and enforcement.
