Nonprofit ransomware task force leaders discuss need to incentivize incident reporting

Industry leaders behind the Institute for Security and Technology's Ransomware Task Force expressed doubt at a Wednesday event that mandatory cyber incident reporting rules are coupled with adequate incentives for organizations to report breaches to government agencies.

“You have to find value adds that you can offer, and you also have to make it seem to people as though they can trust disclosure,” task force co-chair Jen Ellis said during a Wednesday webinar hosted by IST.
