NIST releases draft recommendations on cyber improvements for IoT device makers

The National Institute of Standards and Technology has released its revised recommendations for Internet of Things device security, including detailed pre- and post-market activities, with public comments due by Feb. 7.

The second draft of NISTIR 8259, “Recommendations for IoT Device Manufacturers: Foundational Activities and Core Device Cybersecurity Capability Baseline,” was released Tuesday and includes cybersecurity activities “that manufacturers should consider performing before their IoT devices are sold to customers,” according to NIST.
