NIST to release federal government profile for IoT device security

The National Institute of Standards and Technology is working on two new publications focused on expanding its work to improve the cybersecurity capabilities of Internet of Things devices used by federal agencies.

The first publication is a companion to NISTIR 8259, “Foundational Cybersecurity Activities for IoT Device Manufacturers,” which will be classified as NISTIR 8259B. The new guide will explain how agencies can use IoT devices while managing the risks of installation and maintenance on their government-focused networks.
