NIST plans to release draft consumer software criteria for public comment ahead of White House deadline

The National Institute of Standards and Technology will put out a draft of its consumer software criteria that could be used in a labeling program for public comment by late October, according agency official Warren Merkel.

NIST is working on developing criteria for two labeling programs for consumer software and Internet of Things devices, and in July sought position papers on what the software effort should entail. The agency is getting additional feedback from a two-day workshop concluding today...
