NIST meeting highlights broad challenges for government in addressing IoT risks

The National Institute of Standards and Technology concluded a two-day meeting today on addressing automated and distributed attacks on the internet, which highlighted the numerous and broad challenges policymakers face in mitigating threats from the emerging Internet of Things, including an undefined role for government and lack of consensus on the responsibility of developers in securing devices.

“We heard good news and bad news,” NIST's Tim Polk said at the close of the meeting that included industry and government regulators....
