NIST issues second draft of foundational controlled unclassified information update, along with assessment procedures guidance

The National Institute of Standards and Technology has published the second draft update to Special Publication 800-171, with changes to address stakeholder feedback on tailoring parameters and adjustments on security requirements.

“The protection of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) resident in nonfederal systems and organizations is of paramount importance to federal agencies and can directly impact the ability of the Federal Government to successfully conduct its essential missions and functions,” NIST says in the second draft of 800-171 Rev. 3....
