NIST issues revised encryption guidelines for federal agencies

The National Institute of Standards and Technology has issued revised guidelines for federal agencies on using cryptography and NIST cryptographic standards for protecting sensitive information.

“NIST has published NIST Special Publication (SP) 800-175B Revision 1, Guideline for Using Cryptographic Standards in the Federal Government: Cryptographic Mechanisms, which is part of a series of documents that provides recommendations for protecting sensitive, unclassified digitized information using cryptography and NIST’s cryptographic standards,” the agency announced Tuesday.
