NIST drafting guidance for all federal agencies based on cybersecurity framework

The National Institute of Standards and Technology is drafting cybersecurity guidance for federal all agencies, which will apply the government's existing data-security requirements to the framework of cybersecurity standards issued by NIST and widely used voluntarily by industry.

NIST is planning to issue within two months the “NIST Interagency Report,” which will mesh the framework to requirements under the Federal Information Security Modernization Act, said Matthew Barrett, who is program manager for the NIST framework.
