NIST develops election cybersecurity 'profile' as lawmakers wrangle over legislation

The National Institute of Standards and Technology is developing a “profile” for election security based on its widely used framework of cybersecurity standards, while lawmakers continue to struggle with whether legislation is needed to protect voter data in the wake of Russian interference in the 2016 election.
