NIST budget request features $20 million increase for cyber, funding to support supply chain resilience

The National Institute of Standards and Technology is asking for a $20 million increase in funding to support cybersecurity activities as part of its fiscal 2024 budget proposal, which places a priority on efforts to “expand cutting-edge research” and investing in improvements for NIST facilities.

The total budget request is $358.5 million, representing a 29 percent increase from the previous fiscal year. The proposed appropriation doesn’t include $62.5 million in congressionally mandated spending from the fiscal 2023 budget.
